Even in Britain's busiest and largest city it can be a real struggle to decide how to spend your weekend. These days we are even harder to entertain and we want more choice. So many of us resort to hardcore clubbing at the weekend, but let's face it, that makes Sunday a total right off.
Every couple or set of friends have their classic days like shopping, dinner, cinema and bowling but it gets pretty repetitive.
Top golf brings something new to the table and no it's not your typical golf! In fact personally I find it somewhere between golf and bowling. Top golf is open until 1am with a strict (and I mean photo ID even if your 40) no under 18's policy after 8pm. In the evening the lanes are lit up with overhead heating and table service, pretty suave eh? There is a restaurant, a bar, a bit of an arcade and it seems to be popular amongst couples and groups of friends from both genders (the music is also pretty loud and current which gives a great atmosphere). I went to Chigwell (Essex) on the central line London and I wasn't disappointed with the Essex glamour (I think I was the only one wearing a jacket on the rooftop range).
Basically each golf ball is microchipped and the reason I say it's a bit like bowling is because when you hit the ball, the points come up on the screen - just like bowling. It's nice to have a bit of an aim and you don't need to know what you're doing (I certainly didn't). Before you know it you'll be smashing balls every which way just to try and hit them in the right direction. Why not? Make it your own.
Top golf is available in Chigwell, Warford and Surrey at £5.50 a game. Right now they give a free game after your first visit.
